Atlus Hints At US Release of Persona Fighting Game, Surprising No One

A recent e-mail sent out to Atlus fans included what at first appeared to be a totally blank image. A little bit of photoshop manipulation, however, proved there was more to the featureless square then met the eyes. When lightened up, a message declaring “STAY TUNED” plus a small portion of the design of the title of the Persona 4: Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena can be seen.  Anyone who follows Atlus or fighting games shouldn’t be too shocked, though.  The game has already received a lot of cross over hype between RPG fans and the fighting game community.

Designed in conjunction with Blaz Blue creators Arc System Works, P4:UMA is scheduled to be released in Japanese arcades shortly. Based on the cult roleplaying game series, players control popular characters from Persona 3 and 4 in a traditional 2D fighting game.  Although Atlus USA hasn’t officially released any information on an official release, a 2012 release date is a safe bet.

The game will be available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.
