Street Fighter X Tekken hasn’t even been released yet and there’s already talk about the next big fighting game crossover series. Appealing to the ten-year old in all of us, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon dropped hints recently that there might be a clash between two of the most important fighting games of all time: Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.
In a Twitter conversation between Boon and Capcom USA’s fighting game ring master Seth Killian, Boon said “Yes, great catching up with you too. Looking forward to our first MKvsSF meeting. 1st order of business: MKvsSF or SFvsMK. ;)”
Of course, this should be taken with a grain of salt. Even disregarding the coy winking emoticon, Boon is a notorious jokester. However, far stranger things have happened. Like Capcom vs. SNK. And Street Fighter X Tekken. And Ace Attorney vs. Professor Layton. The list of bizarre Capcom crossovers goes on and on.
Will we see Ken shoryuken-ing Jax’s head off in the future? Only time will tell.
