Fans in Texas and Around the World Will ‘Remember the Red Bull Battlegrounds’

The old saying, everything’s bigger in Texas, is about to be proved once again. Coming to capitol city Austin, the first ever Red Bull Battlegrounds is set to change the experience of e-Sports tournaments, in the most memorable battle on Texas soil since the Alamo. Taking place May 26th – 27th at Austin City Limits Live, 16 of the world’s top e-Sports athletes will lock horns, competing in Blizzard Entertainment’s global e-Sports flagship, StarCraft II.  Battling for fame and prize money, more than $40K in cash waits to be reaped by the attending aristocracy of StarCraft II.

Former StarCraft II athlete-turned-commentator Sean “Day[9]” Plott of www.day9tv.com will be the caster for Red Bull Battlegrounds, joined by co-casters Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham of TwitchTV, Mike “Husky” Lamond, well-known gaming personality and contributor to The Game Station YouTube channel, and special guest e-Sports Manager at Blizzard Entertainment , Rob Simpson.  Representing the most insightful, experienced and entertaining e-Sports commentators on the scene, this team will analyze the plays and narrate the action for fans tuning in from around the world.

The first two Red Bull Battlegrounds competitors revealed are globally recognized pro and Red Bull athlete Lee Sak “PartinG” Won, hailing from Korea’s StarTale team, and Ilyes “Stefano” Satouri, of France’s Millenium team, who will return to Austin after wins at the Lone Star Clash and SXSW. The 14 additional contenders will be announced in the coming weeks.

Complementing the consummate talent that will be competing in the first Red Bull Battlegrounds, the world-class setting provided by Austin City Limits Live raises the bar for the competitors, as well as the 1,500 on-site spectators that will have the opportunity to witness the tournament live as it happens. The premier venue in the ‘Live Music Capitol of the World’, this state-of-the-art facility features the architecture and technology to deliver spectators an unparalleled experience – with live streaming capabilities designed to deliver seamless entry to the tournament stage to viewers worldwide.
