Peter Bartholow, CEO of indie development studio Lab Zero Games, took to the Indiegogo page of their highly successful crowdfunding campaign for their fighting game, Skullgirls, to announce the end of the business partnership between Autumn Games and Konami.
With the discontinuation of Konami’s involvement in the publishing and distribution of the game in North America and Europe, Bartholow states that Autumn Games will take over as the sole publisher and distributor of the console version of Skullgirls going forward. Autumn has already taken steps in completing the transition, including working with MarvelousAQL (who co-published the recent Windows version) to secure a replacement slot on XBox Live Arcade to keep the game from being de-listed. Bartholow adds that upcoming patches for the console versions of the game will progress in a more timely and cost-effective manner now that Konami is out of the picture. Finally, Bartholow assures that while the patch will more than likely be available for the Playstation 3 version first, that the wait for 360 gamers won’t be as long as before.
