Today Facebook announced that they’ve reached an agreement to acquire Oculus VR for a cool $2 billion. Wait. What? The social media giant is ready to tackle new ground, and apparently virtual reality is one of the technologies worth putting some investment into.
Mobile is the platform of today, and now we’re also getting ready for the platforms of tomorrow,” said Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. “Oculus has the chance to create the most social platform ever, and change the way we work, play and communicate.”
I’ve personally been a huge supporter of the Oculus Rift since it was announced, but one has to wonder what this means for the future.
