With less than a month away for the console release of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited and some severe pre-owned panic, developer Zenimax Online Studios announced that players using a rented or previously owned disc will not be locked out of the MMORPG.
In a post to their blog, Zenimax confirmed that “The physical console version of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited does not require a one-time game code. As with any other boxed PS4 / Xbox One game only the game disc is needed for verification.”
This comes after speculation on the same blog regarding a need for unique registration keys that would expire upon use, locking players who buy a used copy of the game from any online play.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited hits Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 9th, and was made available to PC players March 17.
