State of Decay all but revitalized the shambling, rotten genre that was “the zombie game” way back in 2013, and now it’s coming to eight generation hardware. State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition bundles the vanilla game with its two major DLC packs, Breakdown and Lifeline, as well as new vehicles, weapons, characters and graphical improvements. It will be available for Xbox One on April 28th for $29.99, and owners of the 360 version will receive a 33% discount.
State of Decay was a real diamond in the rough, but beneath its choppy exterior was a game with some really interesting ideas. It’s still one of very few games that manages to make feeling stressed a strangely joyful experience and it’ll be interesting to see how the game looks and plays on new hardware, and how Year One Survival Edition‘s new lick of paint will (or won’t) improve the State of Decay experience.
