Planet Coaster Goes Retro With New DLC

Today, with the release of patch 1.3.3 for Planet Coaster, the team at Frontier has released their first piece of paid content for the game. Rather than going with a full DLC release, the team has opted for ‘Construction Kits’, and the subject matter is retro 80s television and film! The first packs provide skins for the popular go kart attraction, allowing players to pilot Kitt from Nightrider, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, and the Munsters’ Coach from The Munsters. It’s an interesting choice in subject matter for their first DLC pack, but I couldn’t be more pleased.

Each pack comes with a skin for the go kart attraction, a 1:12 model of the car for scenery, and a few related special effects (most notably, the 88 mile an hour flames from BTTF!)

The Munsters ($1.99) – Two awesome, modular vehicles, a green mist special effect, and a sweet sign to put on the front of your dark ride!

Back to the Future ($1.99) – Includes modular DeLorean props from all three movies, 88-mile-an-hour flame effect, the flux capacitor effect, and a neon sign.

Knight Rider ($1.99) –  Three versions of the Knight Rider car, special explosion effect (pictured), blue sparks effect (too small to picture), and a bullet smoke effect (also too small). This pack is really about the special effects, and they look great.

In addition to the paid content, Frontier also snuck in a few free updates in 1.3.3 with a new rollercoaster, flatride, and a host of bug fixes. For the full list of patch notes, check out Frontier’s post. What do you think of the first pack? Let us know in the comments.
