In a post on the PlayStation Blog, EA has revealed the dates and details regarding the multiplayer beta for Star Wars Battlefront II.
The multiplayer open beta for Star Wars Battlefront II will run from October 6th to 9th. Anyone who decides to pre-order the game from the PlayStation Store, however, will be granted two days early access to the beta before everyone else, potentially giving players up to six days try out the game.
Details for the open beta revealed that players will face off for The Battle of Theed that we saw during the multiplayer world reveal at EA Play during E3. The 40-player online Galactic Assault mode will pit players as either the Republic Clone Army or Separatist Drone Units from the Star Wars prequel-era. Despite showing off heroes such as Darth Maul and Rey during the multiplayer reveal last month, EA would not confirm which heroes would available when the beta comes in early October.
In Galactic Assault, players will have four different classes to choose from. The added class options is a direct response from community feedback from the first game, which lacked depth in character customization. The classes available include: Assault Troopers, Heavy Troopers, Officers, and Specialists.
Along with Galactic Assault, EA also confirmed that players will be able to partake in a new mode called Starfighter Assault. We can expect to hear more about the new mode at Gamescom this August, and all we know so far is that it will be a “multi-stage, objective-based” multiplayer mode.
Star Wars Battlefront II will release on November 17th.
